WHO ARE WE AND WHY ARE WE HERE?

As entrepreneurs and professional managers living in Poland, our focus is on helping Belarusians develop legal businesses. Throughout 2022, we organized various events, collaborating with other open NGOs that support business, such as the Belarus Business Center and BCB, as well as hosting independent events.

Our main goal was to identify the population groups that require our support the most, and to figure out how we can assist them.

SPRING 2022

SEMINARS

The founders of AIST organized and conducted a series of seminars covering a wide range of topics related to starting and running a small business, from registration to potential sources of financing for sole proprietors and small businesses. At this stage, they did not limit the audience in any way and tried to tailor the topics of the events to the needs of the attendees.

This format of events also allowed AIST to evaluate the market for B2B services and business advice provided by Belarusians to support small businesses.

SUMMER 2022

INFORMAL MEETINGS

The addition of new formats to our business events was initiated by our activists. Two of these formats were particularly noteworthy. The first one was the "business breakfasts," where engaging speakers discussed various topics that were not only limited to business but also covered personal effectiveness and life skills. The second format was "field trips," which were outdoor activities and socializing events supported by the BCB community.

These events were essential for us to gain a deeper understanding of our audience, specifically the factors that influence their readiness to start and run their own business.

SUMMER 2022

INDIVIDUAL WORK

As of mid-summer, over 200 individuals, including both current entrepreneurs and those interested in starting their own businesses, had attended our events. At this point, we began offering one-on-one consultations to address specific business issues.

As the attendance at our larger events slowed down, we were able to analyze our audience in greater detail and gather information on their needs and expectations.

After this thorough examination, we determined that the self-employed and entrepreneurs in the real sector are the immigrant business market's greatest need for attention and support.

AUTUMN 2022

LARGE CONFERENCE

Due to the high number of women attendees at our events, we chose to organize our biggest event of the year, BelFemDay, focused on women entrepreneurship.

The conference's speakers were asked to share their personal experiences and tips that helped them on their entrepreneurial journey, rather than getting into technical details such as ownership or tax returns.

The event attracted over 120 guests, and the audience's interest remained high throughout the four-hour conference, confirming the relevance of the topic and the quality of the speakers.

WINTER 2022

SEASON PREPARATION

After analyzing all the meetings and information gathered from our events, we have decided to concentrate our efforts in 2023 on working with small businesses in the brick and mortar segment. The current preoccupation with IT and macroeconomics by most popular business support NGOs has resulted in the neglect of the largest group of potential and existing individual entrepreneurs.

If you share our position and are willing to offer your time, experience, connections, or influence, we would be happy to welcome you to AIST. We are in great need of socially responsible professionals.
